VSA Concrete Services
Specialising in all aspects of concreting — driveways, paths, crossovers, and entertainment areas.
Exposed Aggregate
Extremely popular and natural exposed stone finish used in all areas, comes in a huge range from our suppliers.
The process of exposed aggregate, after you have selected your mix, is to pour the aggregate into your selected area on day 1 and spray the surface with a retarder product that slows the surface cement from drying, enabling us to wash it off and expose the natural stone you have selected.
On the day of wash-off, a high-pressure washer is used to ensure an evenly exposed stone appears. We then cut expansion joints into the area to allow the concrete to move if required. Once the area has been saw cut, washed and cleaned up, we wait until the surface is dry before applying a high-quality sealer which protects the surface from dirt and stains.
Sealing is recommended every 6-12 months depending on traffic to the area, to ensure it remains in new condition and protected from stains.
Coloured Concrete
Used in areas such as driveways, patios, paths and entertainment areas, coloured concrete can be achieved in two ways:
Colour in the mix: oxide colour mixed throughout the entire concrete batch at the plant. This method is great for heavy-traffic areas and is more durable.
Colour on top: colour hardener applied to the surface while the concrete is wet, ensuring a strong bond between the colour and the concrete.
For both applications we recommend a colour sealer to resist stains and keep the concrete looking fresh.
Slate Impression
Suitable in most areas from driveways to entertainment areas, slate is a stamped impression on concrete that gives several different appearances similar to a slate tile.
Once an impression is chosen and a slab is laid, while the surface is wet a colour hardener is selected by the client — usually a base and a highlight colour (release agent) are applied depending on the effect required.
The base colour is seen overall but the highlight colour is apparent in the deeper impressions, giving it a two-toned appearance. The slab is allowed to dry enough so the slate mats can be applied and we begin stamping the desired impression.
The following day we cut expansion joints and wash the surface. Once dry, a high-quality sealer is applied, giving it a shiny and stain-protected surface.
Sealing is recommended every 6-12 months depending on traffic to the area, to ensure it remains in new condition and protected from stains.
Stencil
A patterned paving look that comes in a wide range of patterns and styles. Common in pool areas because of its non-slip surface.
Once the slab is laid and the surface is still wet, a stencil pattern is applied, followed by colour dust which is absorbed into the surface. Once the selected finish is complete the concrete is given time to dry. Once it has dried enough to remove the stencil, the pattern is revealed in the slab.
The following day we cut expansion joints and clean up ready for sealing — the high-quality sealer protects the surface and provides the finishing touch.
Sealing is recommended every 6-12 months depending on traffic to the area, to ensure it remains in new condition and protected from stains.
Pave Cut Concrete
An innovative design achieved by saw-cutting concrete into one of two patterns — diamonds or straight-line squares. This clean design gives you a paver look without the stress of future movement or weeds growing between pavers.
Ideal for all areas. Once the slab is laid and the dimensions of the diamonds are chosen by the client, the area is cut, then cleaned and sealed to give it the finishing touch.
Excavation
VSA is equipped with machinery for tight access to rear yards and side paths, enabling us to save time and strain in hard-to-reach areas. With a bobcat on hand, front-yard level-outs and driveway dig-outs are easily achievable.
